This quote is a great reminder of how powerful our thoughts can be depending on what we focus on. The pattern between what happens, what we belief about it, and how we feel plays out over and over again throughout the day. The more we repeat a thought, the more automatic and habitual it is in our brain.
If we belief and pay attention to what we have, we end up feeling thankful and grateful. If we belief and focus on not having enough, we end up feeling depressed, hopeless, or overwhelmed.
Since we often do not have control of what happens in the world and our feelings directly follow what we belief, the only thing we can control is how we belief and think about life. When we replace negative mantras and thoughts patterns, with positive or even neutral beliefs our mood improves, our optimism increases, and our life is more satisfying.
Warning: changing the habit of negative thinking is challenging. It may take several redirections in the beginning to create the new automatic thought.
