Therapy

Therapy is a collaborative process typically entered when something is or has gone wrong. Life can be uncomfortable.  There’s a lack of fun, freedom, and functioning making daily activities difficult.

Our work focuses on helping you understand yourself, your relationships and your current options. For children, I give special attention to their age, personality, and role in your family system. My background and education is in family structure, human development and mental health. This lens is individually customized for each client based on their goals and challenges.

I specialize in brief family and individual therapy. Meaning? My philosophy on relationship development starts with the how of getting to your goals now. Other therapists specialize, and excel at, working with clients on the why or linking current events to the past. While I respect history and “visit” your past, my primary interest is on the present and future. The majority of my clients have significant progress towards – or accomplish – their original treatment goals in six sessions or less.

Family Therapy is a good fit for families when:

  • You and your family have one or more struggles that are significant enough to cause impairment in your lives and at least one of you qualifies for a mental health diagnosis.
  • Your family wants a treatment plan and process focused on reducing problems and improving functioning within your family unit.
  • You want you and your family members to learn new behaviors, thought processes or patterns to better your family system.

Individual Therapy is a good fit for individuals when:

  • You have a struggle (i.e. anxiety or depression) that is significant enough to cause impairment in your life and a mental health diagnosis.
  • You want a treatment plan focused on reducing symptoms and improving functioning.
  • You want to learn new behaviors, thought processes or patterns to better yourself.
